Our Story:
Back in the 1950's and 60's, when  Kate was a young girl growing up in a very small town in
New England, her dad had a auto body repair shop next to their home.  She spent many hours
in that shop.  One of the most fascinating parts for her was watching her dad bend and twist
wrought iron until it finally became the shape he desired.  Her dad allowed her to watch, but
only if she wore protective eye gear and stayed at a distance.

Amazed that such a strong piece of metal could be bent and shaped by just using heat, she
watched her dad heat, turn and twist and hammer the metal until it had become the piece he
needed it to be.  Kate realized  that she would love to work with this medium, however, in that
day and age, girls weren't "allowed" to work at these types of jobs.

Much to her mother's chagrin, her dad encouraged her to use basic tools, like hammers,
screwdrivers, hand saws etc.  Later, when Kate was in high school, she discovered they offered
wood shop as an extracurricular course.   When she went to sign up, she was told that it was
only for the boys !   Her parents then encouraged her to be a secretary.

Fortunately, society has changed enough that girls can be what they want to be!

Later in life, Kate amassed enough power tools to make just about anything she wanted to
make.  When her dad finally passed away, her mother told Kate and each of her three (3)
sisters that they could choose one thing of their dad's to take and keep.  Kate chose his table
saw, which served her well for many years to come.

And now that she is unable to do many things, she keeps herself supported and occupied with
her online retail stores.  Always creative and working on some project,  Kate still crochets and
maintains a small garden.

Kate wanted some wrought iron home furnishings for an old Stage Coach Inn that a friend of
her was remodeling.  She became frustrated by the lack of quality websites offering wrought
iron.  Sure, there were a few sites out there, but the variety was limited.  That's when she
decided to contact the manufacturer's and open HomeDecor123.com.
