| About the Quilter |
Marilyn Wier lives in the Pocono Mountains and has been quilting for several decades.
Like most quilters, she learned to quilt using other people's patterns. But, as time
went on, she found that too restricting. With her vivid imagination, she began creating
her own patterns. Hopefully, in the near future, we at HomeDecor123.com can
convince her to begin selling some of her patterns here.
Marilyn has created many memory quilts for children, incorporating into them childhood
dreams, Middle School awards, and High school graduation photo's.
With the uncanny ability to incorporate creativity into her memory quilts, Marilyn makes
quilts for newborns, complete with photo's of brother's, sister's, and family members on
them, quilts for graduations, birthdays, and anniversary quilts. She also possesses
the gentleness of heart and the nimbleness of fingers to very quickly create quilts for
families who have had loved ones pass on. These families wanted to place a memory
quilt with their loved ones while they lay in state.
Marilyn has spent her career in the early childhood education field, and along the way
has created special classroom auction quilts for fund raisers, worked directly with fire
departments and project Linus. Both of these programs try to ensure enough special
handmade quilts for each child that has been in a disaster. These children have
generally lost everything and get to keep these quilts for their very own.
Marilyn holds a B.S. Degree in Psychology and Education. She has taken that
education to heart and put it to good use, taking her training to not only educate
children but also the parents and teachers she comes into contact with, She advocates
for children by being members of N.A.E.Y.C. (National Association for the Education of
Young Children and P.A.E.Y.C. (Pennsylvania Education for Young Children). She
has also lectured across the USA.
